EXTENSION CLASS Program

Welcome to our upcoming 3rd year of extension classes!! Our students have benefitted so much from our past two years of classes that we are moving forward with our third year for the Fall of 2026. We will continue to offer intensive academic group tutoring opportunities on Tuesdays to Christian homeschooling families in the South Bay in addition to our regular Academy Day enrichment classes on Fridays. Group instruction benefits our students with exposure to new ideas, the opportunity for group discussion, growth from rising to the challenge of public presentations, mentorship from other Christian adults, as well as the opportunity for developing friendships with students from like-minded families.
Purpose Statement - In our desire to prepare today's youth to change the world for Christ, the Coastal Extension Class Program's purpose is to provide intensive academic group tutoring opportunities to assist Christian homeschool parents in their task of educating their children. All of our classes will be taught by Christians from a Biblical worldview.

Program Description - Courses will be held one day/week (Tuesday mornings) and will require outside coursework and parental involvement at home. Attendance at the one tutoring session per week does not constitute a complete course. The Extension Class Program is a drop-off tutoring program and is open to any family pursuing Christian homeschooling who either files their own PSA or is enrolled in a Christian PSP. This is not an appropriate program for those pursuing public school homeschooling (charter schools.) There will be 30 class sessions for the year.

Parental Involvement - Parents are expected to deliver their children on-time for class with minimal absences. There will be a minimal Parent Helper requirement per class (approx. 3 times per year, depending on enrollment). Parents need to closely monitor assignments to be completed during the week and maintain communication with the tutor to ensure clarity of material being taught. These expectations are to assist your child in having the most successful experience possible and to not fall behind in their work.

Parent Helper Program

This is an optional aspect of our program, but will be very beneficial to your child's success. We encourage our parents to consider helping out in their child's class a few times a year to better acquaint themselves with what is being taught and who their peers are. Sign up link will be posted here towards the end of the summer.

Parental Testimonial
Regarding Mrs. Nannini's Intro to Writing Class: I am very happy that Naomi finished reading the Chronicles of Narnia. She improved tremendously with her grammar. In the beginning, I was skeptical because the homework was mostly grammar but in the end it benefited her writing skills. She wrote a poem and she is writing a historical fiction novel that is still on going. I am thankful to all of you who made the extension classes possible. Thank you Mrs. Barbara for your efforts in teaching this class. (Mrs. Iris Blasco)

Student Writing Sample

Home Is a Season
By Naomi Jewel Paredes, 5th grade

Home is the first soft thaw of spring,
When earth unfolds its quiet skin,
A place where whispered stories cling,
And every leaf lets light come in.

Home is the steady winter’s glow,
A fire’s warmth against the cold,
The calm between the steps we know,
The shared hands held, the stories told.

Home is the autumn’s fading light,
The letters folded, passed, and kept,
The steady pulse of days and nights,
The quiet words where hearts have wept.

Home is the summer’s open door,
The garden grown from patient hands,
A space to laugh, to grow, explore --
Rooted deep in common lands.

Home is not a place or time,
But all the seasons stitched in one,
A story told in patient rhyme,
A journey shared, a life begun.
